Introducing Our New North Rockland Athletics Varsity Coaching Staff

Coach Hilliard - Varsity Head Coach for Girls Cross Country
A North Rockland alum and former cross country and track & field athlete, Coach Hilliard is entering his first season as the varsity girls cross country head coach. He has been in the district for three years and is a physical education teacher at Stony Point Elementary. With eight years of coaching experience, he previously coached modified cross country and track at North Rockland and spent four years as a varsity assistant in girls cross country and track at Pearl River. He also ran cross country and track & field at North Rockland and competed for three and a half years at St. Thomas Aquinas College. Returning to coach at North Rockland is especially meaningful, as it is where his running career began. This season, he hopes to help the team improve their times while repeating as Section One Class A champions and returning to the state championships. For Coach Hilliard, being a Red Raider means continuing the tradition of excellence that shaped his own athletic career.
Coach Kat - Assistant Varsity Coach for Gameday Cheerleading
A North Rockland alum from the Class of 2013, Coach Kat is entering her fifth year coaching cheer and her third year as a coach in the district. She currently works as a teacher’s assistant at Fieldstone Middle School. A former JV and varsity cheerleader at North Rockland, she knew she wanted to return home after college and give back to the program that played an important role in shaping her. This season, she is excited to welcome new cheerleaders, help them learn new skills and build a strong foundation while having fun along the way. For Coach Kat, being a Red Raider means striving for excellence in everything you do and passing that same drive on to the next generation.
Coach Widmer - Assistant Varsity Coach for Girls Soccer
Entering his sixth year in the district and fifth year coaching at North Rockland, Coach Widmer teaches business at North Rockland High School and is entering his tenth year coaching overall. He played varsity soccer at Albertus Magnus High School, where he was a captain on the school’s state championship team, before returning to coach there for five years. Now, he is excited to join the North Rockland varsity girls soccer staff full time following last season’s Section One title. With a strong group returning and talented young players entering the program, he hopes the team can continue building on the program’s legacy while creating its own identity. His goals are for the players to improve every day, both on and off the field, and develop their own style, leadership and cohesiveness. For Coach Widmer, the best part of being a Red Raider is the community and the support from the players, families and administration.
Coach Rodriguez - Assistant Varsity Coach for Girls Tennis
Entering his second year in the district, Coach Rodriguez is a school counselor at North Rockland High School and is entering his first year coaching tennis. He played varsity tennis at Nyack High School for four years before competing on La Salle University’s Division I team. While completing his master’s degree, he also worked as an instructor at private clubs, coaching players of all ages. As he begins his first season at North Rockland, he is most excited to watch the team improve and compete against friends from other districts. His goals are to build a strong team culture both on and off the court and have the girls compete at 110% in every match, regardless of their position in the lineup or who they are facing. For Coach Rodriguez, the best part of being a Red Raider is the close-knit community. Even though he is not a North Rockland graduate, he says the athletics community has embraced him and treated him like family.
